Thai beef salad or "Nam Tok Nua" is one of our famous dishes in Thailand. The flavor of marinated medium rare grilled steak with fresh herbs are greatest combination ever. Also, this dish is very easy to prepare. It's not as hard as you think.
Beef brisket - this part is good for grilling. It's tender and easy to find from any market near you.
Thai Basil leaves
Ground toasted rice
Oyster sauce ( for marinating a brisket)
How to Cook:
There are 2 parts of cooking for this dish. First we need to prepare grill steak first and the second part is making salad.
Preparing grilled steak:
Clean and slice brisket into thin piece.
Marinated slice brisket with oyster sauce. I would say If you want to make only 1 dish, you can use brisket for 0.5 lb and oyster sauce only 1 table spoon.
Sit them for 10 - 15 mins.
Set up grill, once steak and grill are ready, then grill your steak!
Once your steak is done ( Depends on how you like, rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done)
Cut grilled steak into small pieces.
Sliced red onion, squeezed lime juice, grounded the toasted rice, prepare basil leaves and dried chili.
Mixed all ingredients together in the salad bowl. ( grilled steak, sliced red onion and, basil leaves)
Prepared dressing by mixing 3 table spoons lime juice, 1 table spoon sugar, and 0.5 table spoon fish sauce, 1 tea spoon dried chili and 1 table spoon ground toasted rice.
Mixed all salad and dressing together. Make sure your salad contains flavor of spicy, sour, sweet and umami flavor. Once you get that flavor, then you dish is ready to be served!
Note: It's always great to have beef salad with side of Thai sticky rice.
